School officials notified local police after they heard that Dossey allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a female student while coaching the high school basketball team.

Dossey, 26, is a liberal studies elementary education major.

Paul Mann, HSU’s public information officer, said that through he is an elementary education major, Dossey’s job as a coach has no affiliation to the program or to HSU.

Mann also said that in addition to possible criminal charges, “[Dossey] faces disciplinary action at HSU, pending on the dispassion of the case.” Mann added that for now, he is innocent until proven guilty.

The Arcata Police Department is continuing the investigation.
