Police Identify Alleged Perpetrator

University police seek additional funding

The University Police Department will get an increase in their budget they have been wanting for three years. This increase in their budget will allow them to hire one more officer and ensure that there is an officer on campus 24 hours a day. In an e-mail, University Police Chief Tom Dewey said that even with this increase, Humboldt State will still have fewer sworn and uniformed officers on campus at all times than CSU San Marcos, CSU Channel Islands, Sonoma State, and CSU East Bay.… Post the First Comment

FCC monitors Humboldt Free Radio Alliance

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) searched the internet to build a case against unlicensed radio broadcast by Humboldt Free Radio Alliance in Arcata. On Dec. 16 2007 the FCC came to Arcata asking the Alliance to stop broadcasting. Documents that were requested through the Freedom of Information Act about unlicensed or "pirate radio in Humboldt County" from 2007-2008 shows information the FCC has about the Alliance.… 1 Comment

Simpson Timber agrees to clean up Dioxin
Adjacent to Humboldt Bay's only public fishing pier is a drainage ditch that is rampant with the cancer-causing chemical dioxin. This ditch is located on property formally owned by Simpson Timber Company and drains directly into Humboldt Bay.
