The Lumberjack published an article on Aug. 22 where current students offered advice about what they didn't learn during orientation. Some in the Humboldt Orientation Program took offense to the article, one critique being that the bashed the program through the article.
The article, entitled "Current students offer advice," used information compiled from students currently attending campus. The second paragraph of the article says, "Here are some pearls of wisdom gathered around campus from current students that you may not have learned in orientation."
Although The Lumberjack could have done better at telling readers that the advice came from interviewed students, and were not the reporter's opinion. We stand by our reporter's judgment on how she presented the information.
We always encourage our readers to share their criticism with us, and to use the forum as a medium to communicate with other readers by writing letters to the editor or guest columns.
