On May 14, Hum Brews closes its door to undergo renovations that will revamp its music venue and change up their menu. The pub is projected to reopen in mid-August.
"It will be great," Andy Ardell, co-owner of Hum Brews, said. "We're totally excited for the change."
After the building changed ownership last June, plans were made to remodel the pub. Some of the changes include a new menu, more dining space and a stage in the back of the pub.
The pub was a main venue for local bands. Steve Webb, bassist for Nucleus, a jam-band who played often at the pub, looked forward to improved acoustics after the remodel.
"I love those guys," he said. "I'm sure it will be a cool place when they reopen."
Nucleus will play at the pub May 11. On the last day before closing, May 13, the pub will host the Ziggy Marley After Party.
Ten employees formed a limited liability corporation three years ago to take over the previous business, the 20-year-old Humboldt Brewing Company. Now the pub has 15 employees and is owned by both Ardell and Robin Hewitt.
"Employees had a chance to keep things going here," Ardell said. "Hopefully [the remodel] will be sooner than later."
